Simple Night Time Skincare Routine - 2021 Guide

Getting ready for bed has never looked this simple! Follow these 5 simple & easy steps ...

We know how daunting it can be to find the proper skincare routine that works for you. That is why we have simplified it for you into 5 simple steps along with product suggestions.

This routine is for someone on the go or a beginner to skincare. Teen or adult! These steps will help you relax after a long day and get you ready for bed without a hassle and make you wake up with a healthy glow!

Step 1: Cleansing Balm

After a long day out or in with makeup on, the cleansing balm is essential to break down makeup, dirt, SPF, sweat, excess oils, and other impurities on the skin. As makeup wipes or just cleanser will not take out the makeup already in your pores; therefore, for healthy skin, double cleansing is crucial. Double cleansing means to cleanse your face using a cleansing balm and then to use a cleanser. This process ensures that no makeup, dirt or excess oil left on your skin or in your pores.

Step 2: Cleanser

Cleansing at night-time is essential because it eliminates excess oil, dirt, and unwanted debris build-up throughout the day. This step should not be left out before sleeping because, throughout the day, the skin on your face is continually covered with bacteria, pollutants, viruses, dirt, and old (dead) skin cells. Cleansing leaves your skin as a clean canvas for the rest of your skincare steps.

Clarins One-Step Facial Cleanser with Orange Extract - £22.00

Step 3: Serum

Serums are the secret weapons in our skincare regime, as they target main skin concerns such as acne, discolouration, dryness, dullness, fine lines, or pigmentation. The right serum will target your skin concerns and gradually eliminate them. Especially for night-time, you must always use skin-repairing products as night is the body's time to repair itself. Therefore, using a serum will improve your skin while you sleep and gradually making your skin healthy.

Our product suggestions:

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex II - £79.99

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Retinol Capsules Night Serum - £64.80

Step 4: Treatment (If needed)

As mentioned earlier, the night is the body's time to repair itself, so if any spot treatment is needed, it should be applied at night rather than in the morning mainly, because many spot treatments are harsh and should not be used in the daytime due to sunlight which may cause skin irritation or damage due to sensitivity. That is why night-time is the best time to apply any treatments, as it will cause less sensitivity and work better due to the skin repairing process. However, high potency treatments should not be used every night; so, you might want to skip a few nights in between!

Our product suggestions:

Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil - For Combination & Oily Skin - £33.25

Clinique Smart Clinical MD Age Transformer Resculpt - £60.00

Step 5: Moisturiser

Moisturisers help lock in your serum and essentially adds an extra barrier to your skin. Moisturising also maintains your skin's healthy cells and protects the skin from irritation. Applying moisturiser before bed makes your skin hydrated, glowing and softer the next morning. It also helps seal in moisture and repairs the skin barrier damaged by the pollutants and dry air throughout the day.

Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Gluatathione Intensive Overnight Moisturizer - £122.55

Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Night Cream - £84.15
